FUN FACT FRIDAY: TIGERS! 🐯🐯

Tigers are the largest cat species in the world reaching up to 3.3 meters in length and weighing up to 670 pounds. Adult tigers generally live alone, but a group of tigers is called an “ambush” or “streak”. Unlike most other cats, tigers are great swimmers and actually like the water. Not all tigers are nocturnal, but they do prefer engaging in most of their hunting activities at night. Tigers have a varied diet and can feast on anything that comes their way; they will even eat fish! White tigers are not a separate subspecies nor are they albino. They are leucistic, the result of a recessive gene from each parent that affects pigmentation. Tigers are the only cat species that are completely striped. They even have stripes on their skin. It is believed that tigers can’t purr. Tigresses have a short fertile window. For the entire year, female tigers are only fertile for at least 4-5 days! There are only about 3,500 tigers left in the wild. There is a greater number in captivity. Tony The Tiger, the mascot for Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes will celebrate his 70th Anniversary next year! Have a GRRREEEEAT Friday mes amis!
